Life keeps getting in the way of Simi and Rudy’s story, but I am determined to share it with the world before another season changes.
If you’re plagued by a strange sense of deja vu on hearing the names of my characters, it is no surprise. Simi Gill and Rudy appeared in ‘The Cure was Love’ which was published by Mills and Boon in 2014. When I got the book’s rights back, it went out of print, which was sad so I decided to bring it back into circulation.
Since 2014, I have learned a lot more about the craft of storytelling; therefore, I’ve redone the story. Some of the original scenes that helped the new plot move forwards are reused, but there is a lot of fresh detail and new conflict. Many of the secondary characters in The Cure were too nice to be true, so I’ve added shades of gray to them.
I’ve learned over the years that I work best with deadlines. Knowing that about myself, I figured that if I announced the book, I’d have to finish it!
I made this poster to motivate myself and to keep everyone informed. I hope you’re as excited as I am…
Here are seven reasons why you should read it [Title and Cover reveal coming soon]…
An excerpt that is brand new
I grabbed my things and headed off in the direction he’d indicated. Shutting the bathroom door firmly behind me I leaned against it and pursed my lips.
I couldn’t decide whether I still liked Rudy Atwal. I mean he was gorgeous, no doubt about that. And his relationship with the dog definitely added to his appeal. Plus, he’d kind of rescued me. I was pretty confident that he’d meant me no harm. BUT…just when I’d been about to mellow, he’d ruined it all by turning into a man with a bee in his bonnet about stalkers. So suspicious, the unexpected behavior had really put me off. I had rebuffed him when he’d wanted to explain, but I’d bet there was a torrid story behind his paranoia.
Not that I cared enough to dig deep. No way. In my experience, it wasn’t wise to dig beneath the surface of gorgeous men. I had tried with Abhijit and had lived to regret it. Gorgeous men who were surgeons were twice as bad. Three times as bad. Being skillful with a scalpel went to their handsome heads, in my opinion.
I could imagine some girls being drawn to complicated men and wanting to be the ones to unravel the mystery of them, but I wasn’t one of them. A pointless exercise, and yet here I stood, in a complicated man’s bathroom brooding on the man instead of getting dressed and leaving.
Silly me.
I un-pursed my lips, straightened my strangely reluctant spine, and yanked off the flannel shirt. A drunken brawl at a bar and a rescue by a handsome stranger were not ingredients for anything but disaster. This was real life. I was lucky the evening hadn’t had a soul-shattering outcome. Gratitude to the man was all I should be feeling, not this stupid sense of curiosity.
I do hope you will enjoy this story.
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I had better get back to the writing cave…
Thank you for stopping by.
Yay!!! Looking forward to the new and improved versions of Simi and Rudy. Can’t wait.
Thanks – needed to hear this – going back to writing
