Today,
a friend shared a photograph
of a gorgeous sunset,
where the golden orb
hovered over the lake
as though seeking permission
to sink into the cool waters
for well-deserved respite.
It made me philosophical.
Everything begins,
everything ends,
and in between is
everything that matters.
The sun rises
and it sets,
and that arc
liberates an entire day.
Then,
reluctantly,
it relinquishes the day
to its friend, the moon
and, gracefully, it descends
into the water
to become one
with its reflection.
Some call it downing,
or drowning.
I call it restoration.
Very nice.
