However much I want to believe in the power of good
and however much I want to have faith and hold on to hope,
I see new evidence everyday of much that is wrong with the world.

The strong man sits in a bunker of greed
and roars words of sharp steel and gunpowder.
A baby wails her incomprehension
at why her father lies so still
wrapped in dauntless blue and yellow.
The mother cannot console her
through six feet of betrayed rubble.
